AI top 7---Mariah Carey night

When I first tuned in I thought "you've got to be kidding me Mariah Carey night" eee gads. I think Simon said it best after David Cook "its been karaoke up until this point!"

David Cook, man that guy has some serious talent! I bet no one EVER thought it possible to turn a Mariah Carey song into rock. I was covered in goose bumps

David A, you have talent....but not like this.
Saesha, you're screaming gives me a headache.
Carly, you looked beautiful tonite and I'm sorry you weren't given props. BTW, you nailed it
Kristy Lee, you definitely stepped up..possibly too late for you my dear.
Brooke, you remind me so much of Sheryl Crow---loved it
Jason Castro---I was so blown away with David Cook I thought he was the last singer BB9 started and I don't think there's anyway you could pull it off--sorry dude

No doubt we're watching some pretty good talent, but I'm guessing its time to say goodbye to Jason Castro or Saesha. It's just time.

Who's your favorite and why?

Pizza Hut changed their name--WTH?

Upon checking my buckeye email this morning (to see if the golf coach sent email), I came across this "Pizza Hut is now Pasta Hut!" WOW, so I open it and this is what it says:

PASTA SO GOOD WE CHANGED OUR NAME! www.newpastahut.com

Our new Tuscani Pastas are so good, we decided to change our name to Pasta Hut. Try both delicious flavors, Meaty Marinara or Creamy Chicken Alfredo.
Finally, restaurant quality pasta delivered right to your door! Feeds 4 and comes with 5 breadsticks for only $11.99. Dinner's done!

I'm not a fan of Pizza Hut, but my family sure is. Do they think their pasta is THAT GOOD? When I think of "Pasta" restaurants in this area, I think of "Olive Garden"--yummy.

Here in Bedford we have sooooo many pizza places to choose from you'd think instead of being "Mule Country", we'd be "Pizza Palace".

What do you think?

Excuse me for being so absent with blogging. Life has been pretty busy here in the Engfer household.

I have news......

Austin made the Freshman Golf team!
So exciting for him. He is the 4th generation of excellent golfers within the "Pruden" family. His Grandfathers and Uncle would be so proud of him. His Uncle John (my brother) was the Captain of BHS Golf Team in 1988. His Uncle died before Austin was born, however the legacy contines.

Congrats Austin!!!

Think Spring--and alllllll that comes with it

Spring is here!!! I couldn't be happier, so I thought.....

The kids are on Spring Break this week (1st time ever the week BEFORE Easter-YUCK), my son had a friend spend the night last night and they wanted to go to Blockbuster to get a movie.

I had to remind my son that the "black box" at the end of our driveway needed to be put away before I would go to the video store. Through my rearview mirror I see him bent over picking up what I assume is garbage, I think to myself "wow I didn't have to TELL him to do that!"--bonus.

Boy was I wrong! As he walks closer to my vehicle, I see him fling his arm out. I thought "what is he doing?" To my surprise, my lovely little boy (who's 5'10") flung WORMS on my windshield!! Yes folks, worms. I cannot tell you enough how much I HATE worms! I scream as the disgusting little things meander across my windshield.

I'm most likely going to have nightmares about them now that I've thought about them. EWWWW

WEN SEMI on 13ABC

In January, my trucker buddy Angie Weid and I kicked off the SE Michigan chapter of the Women's Entrepreneurial Network (WEN). WEN SEMI has been so much fun for both of us.

This month's meeting we were very excited to have Rebecca Regnier from 13 ABC-WTVG, be our guest speaker. She shared some secrets to marketing your business in the media. GREAT information! Thank you Rebecca.

Here's a couple clips that aired Tues at 5:30 p.m. and Wed at 5:30 a.m.:

Angie and I both feel our businesses wouldn't be where they are today without WEN. Thank you to Linda Everhardt-Kardux, Linda Fayerweather and Linda Bowyer. YOU GO GIRL!

Struggling with scheduleling

Like most sales people, I have a calendar. I schedule appointments to get to know people that I'm in different networking groups with and how I can help them, we call them "one to ones". I have 2 scheduled for tomorrow. Here's my dilema:
I'm awaiting closing documents for a pretty big deal I'm working on, they were scheduled to arrive at 3:0o today. I'm still waiting. This creates an issue for me because I was meeting with my client at 5:00 to sign said documents. Obviously this isn't happening today. My client is very understanding and appreciative that I've offered to meet with her at her office at 2:30 and him at his office at 3:00 tomorrow. I will do what is most convenient for my customer, its the beautiful thing about my job. I come to them.

Now I need to notify the 2 individuals I have scheduled one to ones with. I've sent them both an email apologizing and suggesting another time next week, but I get irritated because I think I have my week planned out and then WHALA a monkey throws a wrench in and everything is all discombobulated (that is a word).

Have you been in this situation and what have you done to adjust?

Close call

I was awakened at 4:30 this morning with my son climbing into my bed. Here's our convo:

Me: what time is it?
Austin: 4:30

Me: why are you still up?
Austin: I wasn't, I can't tell you cuz its bad and you'll never go back to sleep?

I'm thinking---crap was he online, did he sneek out EEKS

Me: buddy just tell me I won't be as upset and besides I won't be able to sleep until you do.

Austin: I had the electric heater down in the basement cuz its cold and I must've rolled near it in my sleep and my blanket melted and there's a burn mark in the carpet.

Me: WHAT? are you o.k.?
I'm thinking--phew he didn't sneak out and wasn't online til the roosters woke up!
Austin: yeah and so I was looking online on how to repair the carpet and it can be cut out. Uncle Pig will know someone to fix it.

Me: you were online researching, why didn't you come get me? How did you know the blanket go stuck? My heart is really racing here, the outcome could have been WAY different
Austin: it made a really loud noise and the smell was terrible.

I just held him, he was terrified. THANK GOD there is an alarm in that lil heater. It's just a plug in we used when we'd go camping. Now we leave it in the garage and use it when we're entertaining to warm the room. He was smart enough to unplug it and remove it. I wish he'd woke me up, I can't bare to think if this was a different outcome or perhaps even a fire. Would I have woken up?

I did, not until moments after....say to him Austin I'm hoping this is wake up call that you can't always make decisions on the fly. You may think you know everything, but there's always a reason we tell you no. (This wasn't in a bad tone, he's nearly 15 and we've told him this before, but like most kids his age, he has a mind of his own). Really he should've been in his room sleeping because he didn't have any buddies spending the night.

Again, THANK GOD.

What close calls have you had with your kids, that have almost made your heart stop beating?

a SURPRISE from my son

On Friday I was pretty amazed. Kids had a 1/2 day of school I called to check on them and my daughter said all was well. I asked “what’s ur brother doing?” She says “he’s making a surprise for you.” Now my kids know I’ve had a pretty rough week–worst I’ve had in many years. This tid bit of info from my daughter brought tears to my eyes. My son will be 15 in a few weeks and believe me, its ALL about HIM-not uncommon for this age.

Upon my arrival home–coming in thru the kitchen I say to myself–hmm wasn’t the kitchen he cleaned or made brownies, great room-untouched. I hear the lil people in my life in the basement so I proceed downstairs to find my daughter playing Guitar Hero and my son watching rocking in the chair. I see my Dyson, AHA he vaccumed the basement I thank him, he smiles. I said “Lola says you have a surprise for me”. He says “don’t you hear it?” I said “no” he says “look around” and to my wandering eyes should i see HE INSTALLED SURROUND SOUND FOR HIS GAMING TV IN THE BASEMENT!!!!! I say “that’s real nice buddy, how is this a surprise for me?” He says “well if you’d like to watch a movie in the basement you’ll have surround sound.”

Isn’t that nice?—I seldom go down there, it's his lil hangout for him and his buddies—pssst if I’m gonna watch a movie I’ll go in my room or in the great room, because I ALWAYS fall asleep LOL

What wonderful surprises have you come home to?

All the rage of Hannah Montana

My daughter and I just returned from seeing the Hannah Montana concert at Showcase Cinemas in Maumee. Yes I did say at the cinema. See if you haven't heard it was next to impossible to get tickets to her concert when she was in Detroit last month, so the decision makers said "hey we could make even more $$ if we put this in the theatre for a week". This is what they did. I got up early on Monday morning purchased our tickets online ($15/each with a $2 service fee). The Franklin Park theatre was completely sold out, unless I wanted to take my 5th grader out of school next Tuesday---I don't think so. So I opted for the Maumee theatre. She was very excited, as was I. We enjoy spending "girl time" together. The concert/movie was in 3D--this I didn't know, or if I read it it didn't register LOL. Therefore, you had to have the 80's style Tom Cruise "Ray Ban's" on the entire show. Brought back a few memories. It was especially funny to see the little kids with these HUGE glasses on!

Lola and I enjoyed ourselves and as we were leaving the theatre I was digging in my purse to grab my keys. Oh, here they are...nope that's my Speedway card, nope that's Lola's ID card for youth group. I said to my daughter "This isn't good, I can't find my keys." I walked out to my vehicle and sure enough there they are, right where I left them....my front seat! Grrrr All I can say is .....thank God for AAA!!!!! I'm in Maumee, we live in Bedford...hubby wouldn't be too happy with me if he had to come out to Maumee to help me out. Lucy, told me at AAA the wait would be 30-40 minutes, possibly longer. What do you do when you've already seen the movie, so we went into the arcade Lola spotted DDR (Dance, Dance, Revolution) right away. Got her tokens and she was ready.......miss, good, miss, great and in between the music as the song goes on I hear booing, don't they know this is her FIRST TIME? Eee gads, give the little lady a break. She told me she sucked at it and then we were waiting and waiting, until finallyl I see a tow truck pull up. Our wait was more like 45 minutes and it only took him a few minutes to open my door.

Then off to Levis for some shopping at Justice!

Have you ever had an afternoon planned and things didn't go exactly how you'd like it to?
